My Blog
I love collecting all sorts of things when I travel: magnets, t-shirts, mugs, postcards, flattened pennies, and more. But what I seek the most when I travel is conversations. In my time flying between America, Canada, and Taiwan, I’ve had the chance to easily slip into lengthy discussions with just about any friendly stranger I meet. I consider it a blessing that I’ve always been so comfortable striking up casual conversations with strangers, and I’ve always done my best to remember and record the ones that have stood out to me.
Some of these strangers have unique beliefs and ideas I want to delve deeper into. Some share startling and strange coincidences with me. Others have been privy to historical events that forever changed the world. Whatever the case may be, my goal is to empathize, listen and understand where these strangers are coming from. I find that an open mind and a willingness to have civil discourse with strangers has opened up a whole new world of ideas for me.

Descendants of Heroes
A chance encounter with the daughter of an American officer who likely worked with my grandfather in post-war Taiwan.
